This past summer me and my two boys really got into pier fishing and found something we call all do together and like. I live in southern California and mostly go to the Oceanside pier. Does anyone have tips for pier fishing for fall months? Were not doing as great as we were in the summer, but we can still see a lot of fish in the water and being caught. We are just not having any luck. What conditions should we look out for? Bait, ETC. Any tips are great!! Thanks.

I’ve been fishing the Newport beach pier for over 20 years. I’ve had great success using anchovies all year regardless of the weather or condition. I think the oily fish makes them crazy. Make sure to ask about length of the fish you catch you can get a citation if the type of fish is under a certain length some times the police will inquire as to what you caught and especially if it.s a California halibut.Ido very well at night and use a glow stick it attracts more fish to the light near the hook.
Try these other live baits, goobies, clams shell them first and use a big circle hook, squid. You should be able to get these at any local bait shop and yes blood worms are also good.
Good Luck!
