I’m getting ready for my pilgrimage down to Bay of LA and ran across this video. This will get you excited for the variety that Baja has to offer in the way of fishing. Not any real trophy type fish, but lot’s of fun. One day I’ll move and live there …

It was that time to get a new fishing rod because after 4 years of fishing I tend to be a bit rough on my rods. So off to the tackle shop, I noticed there were a few different poles/rods and one was much longer and the tag mentioned bass fishing rod, and then another smaller one was for multi-species use. Oh and the larger one had a much bigger line hole at the beginning. I fish in lakes and catch small mouth bass, sun fish etc, but i want to catch bigger fish this Spring. So does anyone care to share or explain what all this means? As you see I am not really an educated tackle-rod-pole-reel type.
Thanks
KC

Back in the day, we just fished for native trout and there was no such thing as hatched/farmed. It was a joy to fish in lakes up in (Oregon) the mountains, and the native trout seemed to be a firmer texture and a much better tasting fish. I just wonder if some of you old timers like me ever noticed the difference? I love to fish and often wish I could go as often as I use to. As another spring summer has passed I really need to get out there and at it again. It is probably one of the most relaxing ways we can spend a vacation for old timers like me anyway.

I have been Fishing for 33 years and still have not found a fishing lure that will guarantee you to catch a fish. These morning fishing show commercials make me chuckle …. Morning CupidFishers…

I am thinking about getting a new reel to throw spinner baits ( 3/8 oz spinner-bait) and looking for recommendations. My scenario or plan for the spinner-bait fishing is I’ll be throwing the spinner bait parallel to the shore (small pond) over the bass beds during the spawn. I am hoping to catch some of these bass as they are defending their nests. I am not sure whether this would require burning the bait, or a different slow retrieve? Also, I want a rod that has most of its power near the tip or near the bottom of the rod. I’m planning on using a chartreuse and white titanium spinner bait with dual colorado blades, probably silver blades, will that work good. I am fishing in south east michigan this spring, the pond is moderately clear water with grass for cover. Would standard mono be good, or micro filament? Also, is this tactic of spinner baiting over the beds a good idea to catch these bass, it is my understanding that during the spawn, the bass will not eat, rather they defend the bed and will attack anything that invades, but wont swallow, rather they will move it out and drop it outside the nest, would this mean the bass would attack the spinner bait and then with a quick hook set i could get it on and bring it in, does that sounds legit? Finally, is this ethical, to take the bass of the beds like that, or would I be greatly endangering the fish and the eggs, possibly harming the bass population of the pond?
Any advice would be helpful …

My 11 year old son watches too many fishing shows. He already has his Christmas wish list so now I must start doing a bit of research. I need to buy a rod/reel combo, but when looking to buy a rod and everything is complicated for me it makes me crazy. So, if I wanted to freshwater fish, off a bank or boat, possibly catching catfish, bass, and anything smaller, what rod/reel should I buy as far the specs? 4foot? 5foot? 6foot? What type of line? 2-4lbs? 4-8lbs or something like that? I already know I’ll get a spinning real. What’s the number one brand of fishing gear? Plus I don’t have a clue on how to set up the rod, hooks, bobber, ETC. Is there a quick guide/youtube video that one of you’ll can point me too?
Much thanks in advance,
Christina

I fish in Florida lakes alot but only catch hand sized fish. So I want to take up a notch and go pier fishing at jax pier in Florida. Any Florida pier anglers want to give recommendations on how to prepare my rods. They now have 10 pound test line. I need to know if I should change that. Also, the size hooks needed or what you’d recommend and everything else needed. Weights. Leaders? I will be using shrimp. THANKS!

I am so tired of the long cold winters here in SD and would like to live in Florida half the year. I am in my early 50’s with a set income and very athletic we would like a place with bike paths, fishing/boating long beaches for walking, and affordable. I’ve heard prices have come down considerably in Florida and looking for a real deal! I just want to relax and play while living part time in Fl. Thought I’d ask here before I start looking deeper.
Thanks,
Scott Daily

We have had some heavy rain lately and I need some tips on finding them or targeting speckled trout on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. I know the water salinity will be down due to all the rain, but I am not sure as to what affect it has on the sea trout regularly. Os should I try to catching other fish if you think it would be more productive. It’s going to be a fun weekend!
Thanks for any help
