Tips on winter Steelhead fly fishing?

Suggestions on good flies to use in the Western States. I’m be  in  Oregon for the next 4 months on a contract job and have the weekends off.

   There are many appropriate patterns. Best bet is to stock up with some standbys, then check what they are using locally. Area tackle shops and other fisherman will be glad to share that info. There are, too, some older patterns and types that are very successful but which you don’t often see anymore. Among them are the Soo Flies, which are especially useful in heavy water.
