There never will be a (best spot) to cast for catfish, if you are using liver the catfish will smell it and come to it. I’d just let it sit for a while and cast there for 15 min at a time.Cast about 3 times and If still no luck move on to the next spot. Rooster livers will work because its tougher and wont fall off easily,or smaller fish cant take.
A paternoster rig is good for catfish because you do not need to tie your line directly to the swivel, just tie it to the 3 hole swivel. Then cut a foot long piece of line and tie it to the other hole straight across from the first tie.Next get a snap swivel and tie it to the end so u can just slide a weight on,or you can tie 1 directly to the line. For the hook cut a 7in piece of line or more and tie it to the remaining swivel hole, then tie a circle hook to it.
Hope this helps

If I were you I would head for the rocks or any obstacles in the water to catch them. you could cast in the center. i use the rc fishing pole on my rc boat and i drove my boat in the center of a pond and i almost caught one but i panicked and it came off my hook.
I would just use stinky bait and a use a tight line with a weight on the bottom and the hook about 1 or 2 foot up from the weight.. then pull the line tie so when it pops you know you have a fish. It’s just a simple techniques.
