Eating Fish and Seafood while pregnant?

Thought I’d ask some of the CupidFish ladies this question. I am a little bit worried about my sister because she is 10 weeks pregnant and about 3 days ago I saw her eat sea bass fish w/o knowing that it might actually be bad for her baby. The reason I mention this is because I read somewhere it’s under the “do not eat” list for sea food. The fish was well cooked. I am really concerned because she truly like to eat fish. Anyone what to chime in on what to do?

The main reasons why pregnant women not suppose to eat sea bass is because they often contain high levels mercury. However, what they don’t say is not every single fish will have a high levels or that it could have a damaging effect on your baby. But what they also don’t mention is, pregnant women also come in to contact with heavy metals if we live in a city and simply breath in the air. Obviously, the levels are more concentrated in fish, you would probably need to be eating it on a regular basis in order for it to potentially cause harm.

In other words I’m almost 100% certain you sisters baby will be perfectly fine and healthy and think it’s nice you think of her in this way. I remember a midwife once telling me how soft cheeses were also not considered “safe” during pregnancy – but she was pretty sure many french women continued to enjoy funk cheese while pregnant without any side effects :)
