Fishing trip on the Texas Gulf Coast?

I would sure appreciate any first hand knowledge recommendations Because I am so tired of Chain hotel and motels or bad Internet website picks. In March I’ll be in  Galveston – Corpus. Any Cupidfish members have a great weekend somewhere fishing, or  where you could cook out of your room? what you caught, ETC.

I highly suggest Rockport Texas, because it’s about the best price you will find.

Fishing guides at a good price:

If you can find Cedar bayou that cuts to the gulf from Mesquite Bay the fishing in their is great lots of specs and reds. Only problem is getting their very shallow bay you have to stay with the markers very close.
My brother fishes East Galveston bay and I like Port O Connor in my boat deeper waters, out at the big jetties 40″ to 41 1/2″ reds and with a guide I like Rockport area, specs.

Both are good fishing areas to fish. Now get some “Fish-on”!

I live in Portland Tx and fish from Rockport, Aransas Pass and Port Aransas regularly. I was out at Cedar Bayou a couple of months ago and it was silted in with absolutely no tidal flow moving in or out of the bay. There were some flounder in the bayou and a few reds but not like there were when it was still connected to the Gulf.

I like Rockport also! It’s got all the fishing and fishing guides you could possibly need. My son and I cruised the offshore boat over to Key Allegro marina for a late dinner and had a great time on their outdoor eating/bar area.

I used to work in Port Aransas. I like this city as well for those who want plenty of fishing opportunities. The difference is that if you want a chance to go offshore there are plenty of charters in Port A. Not to sure about Rockport? There are many independent Hotels and eating facilities there. Look up the Port Aransas Chamber of commerce web page. They list many of the places and have some phone numbers also!

Good luck on the water and have a great time!
