Left handed Fly fishing advice

Hello all, thought I’d check in with my small problem. Well I’ve always been a (spinner) trout angler and I want to learn to fly fish but I don’t really know anyone who does, so I’m curious what it entails and how expensive a decent fly fishing pole would be? Also, I have a regular fishing pole I bought from my old roommate as he never used it. It is a shakespeare ugly stick and someone said it could easily be a lefty if the real is switched to the other side? Is this even possible?
Thanks much,
Greg

There has to be some-sort of dedicated fly shops in your area? Many of these fly shops offer basic instruction on casting fundamentals ie., classes. I’m sure they’ll supply equipment provided by the shop during the class and then make a better decision about what rod/reel combo will work for you.

You don’t mention any sort of budget guidelines. The expense of getting set up will be considerably more than the price of the rod alone. It doesn’t have to be expensive, but everything just adds up. Keep that in mind it is as addictive and almost as costly as golf.. ;-)

A very good rod/pole, can cost upwards of $700. However there’s no need for that because there is allot to learn and you can buy a cheap fly rod and forget the ugly stick, you can get some good ones from cabelas, by makes such as Redington.

    Good luck
