Trout and redfish fishing boat

Hey all thought I’d check in and contribute a bit. I am Bobby from Louisiana and am really into fishing and see I’m not alone. ;-) . So here goes, I want to get a cheap boat that can fish for trout and redfish. Should I get a bass boat or a flat boat. It has to be inexpensive ($4000 or less) so it will have to be used. Which should I get?
Thanks Bob-LA

I sure wish I was in the postion right now to get a $4000k Boat. Also, you could/will get you a great flat boat for reds in the shallow marsh, for specks you will need something to handle a little rougher water. Check out the classified ads on LouisianaSportsman.com, you can find some really good deals. Also, some areas of the marsh only allow a 25hp max. rating so keep that in mind. Good luck and have fun!

A 19ft center console with a 100+ HP outboard motor would run the bays and back waters chasing Trout and Redfish. The boat is large enough to cross the open water of the bay and small enough if you got stuck in the mud or a sandbar you could hop out and push. Look for something with a nice ‘V” shape on the front and then a flat bottom.
