So I am a Southern California fisherman again and went to get a license and I was told it would expire on a certain date that does NOT total a year. Anyway, why not make the expiration date on the anniversary of the the date it was purchased. Just like a license on an automobile. It’s not the cost/money ($33.35 for a year) but it is different than other license requirements. It would make ZERO impact if I wrote the Fish And Game Department. It just isn’t fair for someone who wants to start fishing and their license will only be good for a couple month. I am going to write my State Representative first than the Fish and Game Dept because California fishing license is BS.

They are not sold on a sliding scale. The cost of a fishing drivers hunting auto marriage license stays the same no matter how long you use it.
You would probably at least give them a clue of what you would like if wrote the letter, but you would stand a better chance of making a change if you went to your State Rep. or State Congress person. I am sure like it is here in Texas that the license expiration is usually dictated by the actual fishing season, not by purchase. It’s pretty much the same in most states.
It is all about bureaucracy, capitalism, money, and they make the rules. It will always be like that for the common man.
Hey don’t feel bad because in Texas it’s 50$ for a super combo hunting/fishing……….and it expires Aug. 1 (or 31st) Does not matter when WHEN you buy it.
