Thought I would start a post about the useless junk I/you bought for fishing. You know, the fishing equipment/tackle you’ve acquired over the years but never use or any other tackle just collecting dust in your tackle collection? This may be some advice/use for the members here on what tackle NOT to buy or for gifts ETC.
My List:
13 ugly sticks: Got tired of breaking them so I gave them away.
NO MORE BOBBERS, PLEASE! i have enough to tie them together and make a decent fishing raft.
ANYTHING Roland Martin has endorsed: Some of fishing finest gimmicks and to be the color-c-lector, helicopter lure, but the Rocket Rod takes the cake!

Gosh I can’t remember the name of it, but it was a baitfish that when thrown out it pulls a cord and makes the tail move…… anyone? Matter of fact, if you can guess the name of it I’ll dig in my gear and send it to you FREE!
This is a great question because I have some floats that have not been used for 20 years that i used on big lakes and still keep them just in case i go fishing in a big lake again my local lake is only about two acres so don’t use the big floats anymore
How about those catfish pods that come on the treble hook and have a slit in them so you can force that tube stink bait into it.Those giant round bobbers, if using a bobber now I prefer the ones with a stick through them. Also have a lot of those lighted bobbers.
I’m sure I will think of some others after I hit submit!
A useless piece of fishing equipment in my boat is a set of scales, for tournament fishing you don’t need scales after you start culling fish you need a balance beam, it’s more accurate. If it sounds too good to be true it more than likely is a gimmick. As for the gimmicks their are a lot of them out their and most of the ones you see them really pushing on TV are a joke although they may catch a fish. On the regular top fishing shows they are selling a product and some of them work. Spinnerbaits, jigs, and crankbaits need some fine tuning or you may be their all day trying to catch a fish. I probably have a bait for almost any place in my boat for catching largemouth and smallmouth bass. Good luck
It is a hand carved wooden duck with paddles attached to the sides, and two huge treble hooks. One hangs from the chest and the other is attached to wall. I have a Muskie lure called “Chucky Duck” hanging on my wall. What’s interesting is that I actually paid money for this thing, must have looked cute at the time. On the other hand if Muskie ever show up here I’m more than ready, and I’m the only kid on the block with one.
Fun question !!
Edit: Just read this over again and missed something first time. Helicopter lures! I haven’t heard them mentioned for years, (which is a good thing). Where do I get one to hang next to my Duck?
So many it would take the whole afternoon……… BTW does Roland Martin use the rocket fisherman in tournaments these days? (lol)
