I need some advice on catfish spike injury care. I was out catfishing on the river and was barefoot and I stepped on a catfish and the spike stuck in my foot. Not only did I step on the spike it is stuck in my foot when I yank the fish out. I was wondering how long does it take to heal and how to go about treating it? I can’t even move my foot and had to call in sick today…;-(

Hey carp anglers! I’ve been seeing huge grass carp in the lake where I fish, with some looking almost four feet long or more and it has me excited. I’ve heard they do not taste very good, but they do look like they will put up a good fight. By the way, these are not your regular brown carp and think these grass carp were actually stocked in this lake.
They are NOT going for the dough bait or even regular bait used for carp. They wont even eat a nightcrawler. Suggestions advice? …Thanks Scott

Universal freshwater fishing line? I will be fishing in freshwater rivers, many small ponds, and lakes very clear, to muddy/mossy, from 1- 50 feet deep. I will be targeting a variety of fish from- pan fish, bass, carp, catfish, and probably Gar. I will be using everything from live crickets to large crank baits. I will at different times be using spinning, casting, and spin casting reels. I will be fishing on bottom, using bobbers, trolling, and casting at different times. I just want one line to do all these jobs and I don’t care if it is the ultimate choice for every application. I know how to choose the thickness/test.
Thanks

Hey all thought I’d post here and ask a question about getting my boy his first (good one) tackle box. Price isn’t a big concern but it would be nice to have the following:
Separate slots for plugs, lures, hooks, etc.
Waterproof (difficult to find)
Corrosion resistance (used for saltwater fishing in the gulf)
Preferably have individual boxes so he doesn’t have to lug the whole thing around if he is going to the front of the boat.
Envelope/bags for soft-bait
Yet compact enough to haul around.
Any suggestions? He’s not a guide but acts like one,
Thanks in advance for your help!!
Karen

I’ll be heading down to Costa Rica in late September for 12-15 days with some family friends and we are in our late 20’s and looking to do some off-shore fishing, hike, maybe some basic surfing, relaxing on the beach and do some laid back resting. So looking for some Costa Rica fishing spots to hit. Any suggestions from previous experiences? Oh and as always cheap, basic accommodations are essential.
Thanks in Advance.

Good morning all:
Me and some friends have been hitting the shore fishing hard and doing well and landed more then a few very nice Bluefish. Most of everything we catch was released other then the lady fish which we use for chum/shark bait. So my question is what is the best way to Clean/Cook a bluefish? Anyone here ever cook BlueFish?

My first fishing boat advice. I’ve been looking at fishing boats and this will be my first boat. I’ve looked at used boats as well as new boats and just can’t believe the price for used boats it is ridiculous and new boats are just way to expensive. I am a big guy so stability is a must, plus I will be using the boat for fishing tournaments and will need it to be as comfortable as possible. The boat will be use to fish cypress lakes, (Mississippi) rivers, and possibly big water lakes. I have been leaning towards a fiberglass boat, but I question the strength/durability because the cypress lakes and rivers, are full of stumps. I looked at used but see no point in buying a 5 year old boat, when I can buy a brand new one and know everything that has ever happened to that particular boat for just a few more thousand dollars. Help please, aluminum or fiberglass? motor size? boat size? fish-ability? comfortably?
Doug

Any tournament anglers here at CupidFish? Anyway, got a quick question for a fishing tournament and get the option of one fishing rod, one reel, and one line. I got my Rod/ reel figured, but can not decide on the line to use. I was thinking about either a floating or sinking. Here is why, sinking I can whip streamers around and get some descent drifts with nymphs, but with dry line I can also use an indicator to fish the hard stuff plus the fall hatch is a blast top-water. What would you take, sinking or dry if a tournament was on the line? Will be fishing for Steelhead & Salmon.
Chuck.
