Fishing canada pike

Hey all I live in Minnesota and have never fished Canada and hear the pike fishing up there is unreal usually in Spring and heard they slow down a bit in Summer. A few of my co-workers and friends have a 2 week’s off on the 4th of July week and we want to take a road trip up to Canada and see what it’s all about. We will also try for walleye and muskie, but our primary concern is pike. We want to hit multiple lakes and see the country as well. We are going to catch and release everything. What are some key locations? Any Canadians that are willing to share some secrets? I appreciate any help I you can give and look forward to fishing Canada.

Fishing line for bass, catfish, and Pike

Fishing line for pike

Hey all, another with a quick question about fishing line for bass, catfish, Pike, and I mean strength. I am the avid angler all things bass fishing and occasionally catch some channel catfish.  I plan on heading up north this July for some pike fishing. I am getting excites because I’ve heard the lakes (I’m going to) can get pike up to 25 lbs, but the average is about 5 -10 lbs. I need to get my rod re-lined anyways so what would be a good lb test to put on that won’t be to heavy for small fish and not to light for the possible big guys . ( I have 12 lb on now and think i might need more ). Thanks

storing_fish

Hey all I got a quick question about how to store my fish during a long fishing trip? I got a (booked deep sea fishing)  to take a five day trip during the 4th of July, Holiday and a bit confused on how to store the fish? I understand the boat will store my catch, but after 5 days is this not a bit too much for warm water fish?

Best US catfishing locations?

catfishing
My father loves to go cat fishing and I want to surprise him with a cat fishing trip, but I don’t know where to go. In truth, he is driving me crazy already this summer now that I am off (I’m a teacher) for the summer. Could some of the cupidfish members please point me in a general direction for some good fishing spots in the US ?…or err…in the Southern US.
Regards,
Beth

Sea Sickness When Fishing?

Thursday, June 24th, 2010
sea sickness
Sea Sickness When Fishing? So I got invited to go Deep Sea Fishing when I go to Santa Barbara next week. I’ve been on some boats (sailing) before, and in my past experience I’ve got very ill and it upsets me because my dream is to do deep sea fishing. I try to man up and not get sick, but it just hits me like a brick and I think I need to take drugs to prevent it just in case or just tough it out? Suggestions?

Need Walleye Fishing Tips?

Hello all thought I’d make my first post. My brother and I are taking the boat out and looking to catch some Walleye, does anyone have any good tips? Some info on where we are going to fish. The lakes are a small chain of narrow lakes, which used to be a strip mine, then was later flooded for fishing, the water is usually warm. So far we’ve decided on trolling lindy rigs from the first day,but to widen out chances of catching more walleye, if the lindy rigs don’t work we’re going to trying something else. Has any anglers here fished these types (strip mine) of lakes before, and especially what are your tips?
Thank you-Jeff

Men over 40 turn fat and lazy

fat and lazy

Hey cupidfish I thought I’d join this dating site and give it a go. I just dumped my 45yr old boy friend of 2.5 years. A majority of the time we got along great – as long as we are doing what HE wants to do. We’d go fishing, boating, and one time even went with him duck hunting etc. These are the only outdoor activities he enjoys. I enjoy them because it’s something we are doing together. However if I suggest we try something new or an activity I like to do such as going to an outdoor festival, go bowling, see a free concert in the park, take a day trip to the beach or mountains, he is totally resistant. He’ll roll his eyes and respond,”I’ll have to get back with you.” That was his answer to most of the activities I would like to do with him. Then he will delay so long in giving me a definitive answer about my suggestion that is it either too late to go or I’m just not longer interested. The last few times he had me wait for an answer I took a girlfriend instead. I thought this would make him feel left out or guilty for stringing me along, but he still didn’t care! He went fishing or hung out with his buddies. He doesn’t see why I’m making a big deal about it. But it infuriates me!
So now after I dumped him he wants to get back together and make amends. I am finished and truly am an (all things) outdoors type of gal, but sadly, most men over 40 turn to all talk and no action and just want to do the things they want or sit and watch sports and feed their pie hole. I am in my mid forties and understand why women my age or older turn to cougars because you older me lose your stamina. VENT off-
Jackie

Reasonably priced saltwater fishing boat

Boston_Whaler

Is there a reasonably priced saltwater fishing boat? Hello cupidfish boat owners I am trying to find a good saltwater fishing boat like a Boston Whaler, but possibly cheaper?  I am looking for something with a  center console boat that is a good fishing boat to fit at least 4-6 people and is 19-27 feet long and is in the price range of $10,000-$15,000 dollars. I am dreaming or do you think it’s possible to fins something reasonably new and in good shape? I just can’t afford a Boston Whaler and know that there are the best boat for this but as mentioned, they are way out of my price range.

Fly fishing Q & A

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010
Alright here goes. I got my first fly rod for fathers day, a field and stream 6 wt 9 ft with WF line. So here is my newbie fly fishing question. I will  be fishing poppers and streamers and woolly buggers so how do I attach my fly line to a leader, could I just use like 8lb stren mono or do i have to use a leader designed for fly fishing like for example “frog hair”. Thanks in advance and tips are appreciated. Gary
