Hello! Thought I would give a shot to my first post. I met a nice women a few months back and she has to kids. Ones an infant girl and the other is a 11 year old boy. I started to notice the boy is a turning into a mommas boy a lot and wanted to get him involved in outdoor activities. I’m wanting to do more with both and get outdoors, like camping and fishing, that all boys would like and he is showing signs he’d love to go. The problem is the “mom” is over protective and to some extent a little untrustworthy of me and my ability to handle him? I have already done a few thing with him like take him to the show, outdoor stores, and fast-food runs. There has never been the slightest problem and it’s could be categorized as “fun”. Although, I did take him with for a quick trail ride and he loved it! So my question is how do I approach this intelligently? Do I just need to just wait because I really enjoy being with the kids. But its summer and out of school and I have a couple weeks off so it seems like a waste of time to just be sitting at the house watching them. Any ideas?
Thanks all how answer,
Darren

Hello all thought I’d start a fun post for a Friday morning. Titled your best fishing story. I was deep sea fishing in Homer, Alaska for halibut and notice my rod get a good strong tug, So I set the hook, the fish took off like a bat out of hell, I was able to slow her down and then started to reel it in, she broke the surface, it took off again and this happened a number of times, it took me a good 45 minutes to bring her in from first pull to land, it was just too big to pull it on the boat, I had to slowly tow it to land, gaff it, and drag it to land. I didn’t weight it, but it had to weight at least 150 lbs and a fish I’ll remember for a life time!

Good morning all! I am also new here and thought I’d ask some of the resident fly anglers about my first fly rod I just purchased. It’s single action, not to fancy. So my questions for the fly anglers here. How much line would you recommend to go on the reel? Backing fly line and, leader. Also, what is the loop at, the end of the leader for? and, what is tippet? I will be mostly concentrating on reservoirs for Hybrid Striper and, Crappie. any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Terry

So I met a up with a lady for coffee and we talked an hour and things went great. She was honest and looked good and knows a lot about fishing boats. I mean a lot and was impressed with her knowledge. So I asked her out again and we are going to do some crappie jiggin this weekend. She said yes, but she wants to take it real slow. I agreed with her but come-on guys/gals this is dating, I have some questions.
Guys: Would you continue to keep your profile online and keep meeting ladies?
Ladies: Would you do the same thing and keep meeting guys?
Thanks

New member here. I thought I’d ask a question about using live bait for striped bass. I understand when fishing for striped bass they don’t start out in life looking to eat an artificial lure and understand they will hit what is natural. My lake in (SE) the bass are slowing down on any lures and now want to try live bait. I understand stripers are likely to hit the live bait during these colder months.BUT if you were going to use live bait now what would be your first choice? Thanks in advance!

Arkansas lake property laws:
Hey all had a question for some of the Southern anglers on this site and thought this would be a good place to ask. I run a descend online business and can live anywhere and want to move from California because it’s just too expensive to live here. I am an avid angler and more of a bass fisherman or freshwater angler then ocean fishing. Anyway, I’ve been looking online and the standard of living in the south and home prices are just unbelievably good compared to southern California. BUT I can’t decide whether to settle down in Arkansas or Alabama, both have great fishing lakes and a very affordable lifestyle. I want to build a custom house on a lake. A friend said that in Alabama, any property you own on a lake is private property. In short, people can’t fish on your property or trespass, but the law is different in places like Mississippi. In MS, people can supposedly fish from your backyard into the lake, that kind of thing. A law regarding “right of way” or something like that. Does anyone know the law in Arkansas in regard to this?
Thanks Alex in Socal!

This evening, Saturday I was out fishing (Florida on the Gulf) for snook and caught a nice little one and released the fish. Anyway, I was fishing under a bridge at night and it was full of Snook under the lights. Just about anything I cast in-front of them ie.,, DOA rubber shrimp, a plastic wiggle fish, frozen shrimp, they just would not hit anything. I’m getting tired of fishing all together. I can’t catch anything decent here. I don’t have a boat either and only go out when invited. Looking for tips and advice.
Any out there?- Lisa in Fl

Hello cupid Fish! This is my first post to the blog. I’ll be heading out on Sunday night to do lake fishing at night in Ga., I’ll be going for bass more then anything. I was wondering if I should buy some glow-sticks. I am also bringing watermelon trick worms and was wondering if i should use something different for night? I figured that darker worms for night and light for day, but any other tips you want to cast my way?.. feel free to throw some ideas at me for bait/tactics. Thanks in Advance-JD in Ga.

Might be a dumb question but can I sell the fish I catch? I just have a fishing permit bought at Wal-Mart. I’ve been fishing hard and always catch myself giving fish away. I’ve been reeling in some huge Crappie and been offered money for my catch, but is this illegal?…or would I get a fine? If it was possible it sure would be nice to get some extra cash to cover my costs for MORE fishing! Anyway, I fish in Arkansas and thanks for any replies. Scotty

Hello CupidFish. I am single mom and I would like to take my two early teen daughters camping. I want them to “unplug” from the world for a weekend here in Arkansas and enjoy the outdoors and possible teach them to crappie fish like my father did. It’s a still a bit warm but here is my question/problem. I am not as familiar with the camping as I use to be, and I need as much advice as you can give. Where, when the best time of year to go, what sort of things I would need to bring. I know of course the basics of a tent and sleeping bags and stuff but I don’t know what else we would really need. I know it’s the middle of summer since it is hot here but I would also like to go fishing and don’t know if we can catch anything. I know it sounds stupid, but I am really just trying to make some memorable moments for my girls.
In short, I just need some basics.Thanks- Eileen
