Crappie fishing a new lake

Crappie fishing lake
Hello CupidFish. I’ll be heading out this weekend and going to do some crappie fishing on a new lake. So my question is or wondering which day would be best? Let me explain. I will be  fishing a well maintained farm pond with clear water and good controlled vegetation. The lakes deepest end is 24 feet and the lake is a bit over 5 acres. There is a good number of  Channel Cats that are 10 pounds or greater, Large mouth bass, Green Sun Fish, Blue Gill, and Black Crappie. Saturday the forecast is going to be cloudy with winds up to 25-30 with tempature is 85 with a low of 65. Sunday might be stormy with 40% chance of scattered thunderstorms with winds up to 17 miles an hour. It will be 72 as the high and 60 the low. So my question is what day would be best to fish?

When there are thunder storms, I would not venture out. Matter of fact, you should commit to a rule that when there is you should dock your boat and get off the lake. Sure, you’ve had luck in windy conditions, but as soon as a storm front enters the scenario, any prudent fisherman would avoid the activity altogether.
That’s just me, and I love fishing.

Wait wait wait….any time there is thunder/lightning, I would not venture on the lake with lightning happening. You can deal with the wind, as you mentioned, fishing is the right day. Fish activity often increases with pre-frontal weather patterns. Likely anytime between now and the end of the storm will be good. In short, stay off the lake when you have lightning.

I am a little late on this post, but I would have with a lake stocked like that I would close down this computer and go fishing and go with a couple different rods. One set up for live bait and another with a spinner. I would use minnows as live and take an array of lures. oh yea with I would try to hit it before it started raining. and i believe that i would also have to bring me a cooler of corona and then I would be set. Now If it started to rain you’ll be on a boat that can get much heavier with water in it. The only thing I catch the most are catfish on rain days because they feed when its muddy. I haven’t caught big crappie in the rain. I figure it was because the rain hitting the water scared them out of the shallow water. I have caught some smaller ones. But I think your after the big ones.
