  1. FlatsFisher says:

Reddington is owned by Sage, just that they are built overseas – the quality if good for the price. The Cabela’s XST is another decent fly rod for under $200 and I have had no issues with sending Cabela’s products back – they stand by their products.

    Orvis makes great saltwater rods.

The T-3the ZG Helios is a $750 and weighs considerably less than all others which will reduce fatigue. I think Redington makes a nice “mangrove/flats” rod. I purchased this rod and use it for Tarpon .If your looking strictly for a “trophy fish” rod then you need a 12 WT. However, you will get MUCH MORE mileage out of a 9WT.

You can use your 9WT for a wider variety of fish, IE- L Bass, Redfish, Snook, Mangrove Snapper, ‘Cuda, Etc.

But, there are MANY good rods in the $200 price range……

Just make sure when you purchase your rod that it has “saltwater components” and an aluminum reel seat.

    Hope this helps ya?
