Hey all hope you all are having a nice holiday weekend. I’m stuck at work here in Tyler Tx and have this coming week off. I just got a call from my uncle who wants me to come down and check out his new cabin he bought on Toledo bend lake (Texas side) a few months ago. I am planning on heading down there on Tuesday to get some fishing done. My Uncle is is new to the area (not much a fisherman) and says he doesn’t know what to fish for this time of year. Advice suggestion?

I am primarily a catfish angler and there are some monster flathead (yellow cats) and blue cats in that lake. Hook one of them and you’re in for a ride. Have fun & catch a mess. It’s known as one of the best Bass lakes in the country. Loads of Crappie, Catfish, Bluegill (and other sunfish species), Drum (freshwater), Grinnel (Bowfin), Gar, Carp…(most any freshwater species you expect to find in a Southern reservoir)…etc. This lake is very large, be prepared for East Texas weather, notorious for fast moving storms often accompanied by high winds, rough water, lightning, etc.
It’s just hard to believe your uncle is not sharing the information about the great fishing there…
Your uncle is a lucky man because that cabin is on one of the best fishing lakes in the US. It is well noted for it’s population of almost all the different varieties of game fish. Bass, crappie, stripers.bream, catfish, bar fish, etc. It’s a must for you two to get on the water and go fishing.
