Shallow creek bass fishing advice needed

Friday, September 17th, 2010
Shallow creek bass fishing advice needed. I found a great creek with lot’s of shade trees and unfortunately, a lot of bait-fish ie., minnows. Any suggestions or advice on alternative baits to catch these largemouth bass? The creek is clear and I have seen some 4lber bass in there so I’d like to know if there is an easier method because they are NOT biting live bait.

Pond full of largemouth bass

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

Hey all looking to get some feedback from other bass anglers here. I been given access to a new pond and need a bit of advice because the pond/lake is 64 acres, 30ft deep, sandy and mud bottom with hydrilla. The Pond is full of largemouth bass  with zero structures on the pond or any stumps/rocks for the bass to hide. I’ve done pretty well with open water cranks and landed many 2lbers but with 30 ft depths I can’t find any large bass. This is a very healthy un-fished stocked pond.. any advice?

I need Bass fishing advice

bass fishing
Any bass anglers care to share some fishing advice? I’ve noticed there is a lot of anglers here from the South around Missouri and Arkansas. I’ll be going down to the Elk River area to visit family and been bass fishing on lakes many times, but I’m going fishing on a small clear river that I have not fished before, its not a large river. I’ll be going after smallmouth bass mainly, but largemouth bass also. The water temperature will be 60-65 degrees and the air temperature will be in the high 90’s and as far as rain it has been raining all week and there is a slight chance it will rain this weekend so the water level will be up. I’ll be heading out to buy some bass lures tomorrow and could use so advice on what to get. I am looking for advice on lures you think  will work for me during this weekend.
Thanks, Brandon

Setting up a farm pond for bass?

bass pond

Evening all! I have a question for farm pond owners. I moved onto a farm that has a 8 acre pond that has a lot of various different fish, crappie, catfish, largemouth bass, ETC. So I thought I’d give it a go and caught a few crappies and two very small bass. So my question is what would be the better way to catch larger fish? Plus what type of farm pond management direction should I go? But first back to fishing for bass. Currently, I am using a 7″ black worm with no weight so any tips would sure help.

Striped bass fishing with live bait.

Striped bass fishing
New member here. I thought I’d ask a question about using live bait for striped bass. I understand when  fishing for striped bass they don’t start out in life  looking to eat an artificial lure and understand they will hit what is natural. My lake in (SE) the bass are slowing down on any lures and now want to try live bait. I understand stripers are  likely to hit the live bait during these colder months.BUT if you were going to use live bait now what would be your first choice? Thanks in advance!

bass fishing weeds
Hey all another new member here from Texas! I have a great little lake I fish in that has produced some nice size bass but the problem is it has a ton of weeds through out. I use plastic worms, spinnerbaits, and frogs. I have done well with these choices and do catch a decent amount of fish. The problem is I think the fish have all seen these same lures multiple times and possibly I am missing the bigger fish? Any suggestions on the type of bass fishing lures you guys/gals recommend to fish in these weedy waters? Thanks Terry

My Outdoor fishing date

hottie bass fishing

Thought I’d check in and update a few on my second date idea. So as you know I met a guy here on CupidFish and he took me out for a nice lunch and then a great walk. He works a lot and likes bass fishing as much as I do and so now it’s my choice for the second date.  So my plan is to go fishing and make a fire and fish and watch the stars but its so damn hot! Anyway, he does work a lot and mentioned a few times he has not got out all that much to do some fishing and his free time he is spending with me;-) Anyway, my question is do you think it is too soon for a camp/fishing trip?

Thanks Eileen

Considered Trophy largemouth bass

Trophy largemouth bass

What is considered a trophy largemouth bass? I’m new to bass fishing and went fishing two days ago and caught a very nice 5 .5 lb  (15 inches) largemouth bass. I released the bass and I didn’t know if i should be regretting something right now. So could someone here explain what is a trophy largemouth bass? Is there a guide that goes from State-State or bass species type?

Bass fisherman turns to trout fishing

Friday, May 21st, 2010
Hello fellow anglers and single people! I will always enjoy the largmouth bass fishing, but I am starting to enjoy trout fishing here in the Central Texas lakes. Being a beginner trout angle, but a skilled Bass angler I’ll be going to the lake with a spin rod/reel. The trout that live in the lakes are not that fast moving, but there is also a lot of small fish and bluegill, has open areas and shaded areas, shallow, and deep, no obstructions except maybe a fallen tree.
Advice needed: Bait, Tackle, & Lure, Location of Trout Hiding, Time Of Day Best and Worst. Best Type of Weather: Cloudy, Partly Cloudy, Windy, Rainy, Sunny, Before Storm, After Storm, Humid, Dry etc. With the wind or against the wind when casting!

If you can help-Thanks a million!! Steve in Tyler TX

Large pond Bass fishing advice

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010
Hey all new to the site and had a question for you pond/small lake owners or regular fishers. I live on a 2 – 3 acre lake that is shaped like a “P” in North Texas. Let me describe the pond. It is shallow and a little more then 3 feet around the edges and 6-15 in the deepest part of the lake. The water clarity is low with plenty of algae, so about 2 feet visibility at best. The bottom is dark, blackish leaves that coat all of the bottom. There is zero vegitation that I know of in the water. But there are loads of sunfish, some crappie, an shad, and lots of 5-10lbs catfish. I know there are largemouth bass in the water because I caught one on a small rubber shad. I have also been told be several neighbors that they have seen or caught some bigger 3-5lb bass in the past.

Now with this information, as the water warms, what lure should I be using? I have tried several different color jigs (red, blue/black, white, silver) without success. I have tried shallow running crank baits and some rattle trap lures without success.  Any advice would sure be appreciated.- Thanks Mike
