Bass Fishing in lily pads
Sunday, May 16th, 2010Hey all I am from Texas and thought I’d join and check things out here at cupidfish and ask a question now that my home lake will become overgrown in many areas with thick lily pads and hydrilla and is some what of a problem for me every year. The lake I am fishing is a power plant lake, and summer is my hardest time to fish it because my fish finder can’t see deep structure. Because the lily pads seem my best bet. Could some one please help me figure out a good method to fish these seemingly impenetrable lily pads, but I know there are fish in them. What would you recommend, and do you have any other tips for this lake during summer? It only has two docks, and it is characterized by tons of stumps and its a fairly small 2,500 acre lake if that helps. -Regards, Rich in TX
Oregon fishing for LargeMouth Bass?
Friday, May 14th, 2010
Hi, Ive been Bass fishing before down in South many times and I am somewhat good at it. But Oregon fishing for LargeMouth Bass? I just moved close to the Columbia river and there is a very small population of largemouths in the Columbia and I have never caught one, although I have tried numerous times. Can any of you experienced Oregon bass anglers give me some tips/pointers on how to catch some and in Oregon it is illegal to use live bait and goldfish.
Thanks much, and I appreciate any response.
Freshwater bass fishing in Maine
Wednesday, May 12th, 2010I will be fishing up in Maine for a few weeks during the summer and I will be spending a lot of time fishing. So my question, what is better for freshwater bass, a rubber worm with a jig head or a deep diving lure? The lake can get to about 50 feet in the center but I will fish around the 15-20 foot region the most and I will be fishing in the mornings and afternoons mostly. Hopefully, It will be sunny! Thanks for any help or advice,- Frankie Z
Clear water largemouth bass fishing
Monday, May 3rd, 2010Hello all I am a largemouth bass fisherman and there is a HUGE bass in the lake but since the water is soo clear they refuse to bite at almost everything. I’ve been using Crankbaits and spinners, with no luck and I’ve even tried baby bass, small bluegill, and sculpin as bait. All the bass do is chase the bait, and once they get very close to it, they inspect it carefully and leave once they see it’s a fake. What am I doing wrong? Advice sure would be appreciated.

South African angler needs US advice
Tuesday, April 27th, 2010Good day CupidFish! I am Henrik from South Africa. When fishing RSA we use dips, basically organic and oil based or a mix of sauces that we add either a live or fish based bait, or a “milie bomb”. A millie bomb is a spring like contraption that is made out of wire, with a weight in it. African anglers make a dough made from pieces of corn, flour, and the water in which the fish inhabitants. So there is different flavors like banana, ETC. What happens is the fish are attracted to the smell of it. Plus we also use whole frogs as bait and a doves torso. please don’t think we are crazy Africans, anyway. Do you guys in the us have any methods for catching sweet water fish that I could use over here? If you really want to research what fish we have im gonna give you a small list of our fresh water fish.

Whats the big deal about bass fishing
Thursday, April 8th, 2010
Whats the big deal about bass fishing and why is bass fishing so popular? Could it be they’re easy to catch? I’m not a bass fisherman, but I’ve actually caught of 30 this Spring not even trying for them. They do, however, put up a good fight but taste horrible. When I go fishing for bluegill, I catch bass. I go fishing for crappie, I catch bass. Walleye fishing , bass again. This spring in Minnesota was trolling with an 8″ crank bait, first fish I caught was a 10″ bass!
Bait was as long as the fish! Every fishing show on tv is bass fishing. I don’t get it.
Not putting bass fisherman down at all, you guys have the nicest looking boats! Also, trolling with a spoon or hot n tot for Steelhead, bass again! – JD in MN

largemouth bass fishing in Ga
Sunday, March 28th, 2010Morning members! I have a quick question about largemouth bass fishing in Ga. I mainly fish a private pond in south Ga and caught 1 bass yesterday morning, but no luck sense then and I need to know how to fish a spinner bait ! I also want to know if fishing the banks are good or should I fish the bottom? I reel a spinner fast on the top not working for me at all. the only thing i had luck with was a fake fish made of jelly. I think it was a fluke that morning
. The pond I fish is 15 foot deep in the center and about 200 foot by 150 maybe clear water, also inhabited by catfish and carp. Any suggestions would sure help. Thanks- Mac in Ga.
Going Bass fishing in Oklahoma
Friday, March 19th, 2010Morning all I live in Illinois. A group from work and me are go fishing every year in the spring, heading down south. Over the last few years we’ve been going to Arkansas and caught some nice fish but are looking to head somewhere different this spring. How’s the Bass fishing in Oklahoma? We are just looking for a couple decent sized lakes to look into for a week long trip or so. Thanks for any info!
