Your favorite catfish setup and bait
Sunday, May 23rd, 2010I want to get out and go for catching catfish in a lake near my house and was wondering if anyone had any advice for catching catfish (new to catfishing), bait, type of hook, line setup etc. Also, I have seen people use different baits but the most common bait that i see work is dough bait, but the only problem is there are so many different kinds of recipes. if you have a recipe that you have tried and works I would love to try it also. In short, something simple. So whats your favorite catfish setup and or bait?

Fishing for channel catfish in Spring
Friday, March 19th, 2010It’s Friday all! Anyway, my fishing pond is still half frozen as we speak and looks like it is defrosting at this very moment. So how long do you think I can start fishing for channel catfish or possibly largemouth bass? Also, the weather is steady around 45 degrees for the next week and what kind of bait/lure do you recommend for early spring fishing? thank you for your answers!

Cat fishing Massachusetts reservoir
Sunday, March 7th, 2010Evening Cupidfish members. Alright, here is my situation, I’ve caught plenty of catfish, all at night, but problem is, there is a reservoir in near my house which is controlled by the state of Massachusetts. It is governed by strict rules, one of which is the reservoir is open only from 1 hour after dawn til 1 hour before dusk. I could probably get away with just going there and fishing at night, but in the off chance I get caught I really don’t feel like paying the fine(s). Are there any special patterns , baits, and depths that catfish use during the day?
Thanks,
KC
Need a river boat for catfishing
Saturday, February 13th, 2010Morning Cupidfish! I have a question for catfish fishermen that have boats on the larger rivers. I am my tax return check in and thing about getting a boat, but needed a few tip on what would be safe and practical on large rivers like the Mississippi. Also, I’d like something economical and reasonably priced. I guess what I’d really like to know is if there is one single boat that would work for me on small, medium, and large rivers like the mighty Mississippi as well as on large reservoirs and lakes? If I could only afford one boat for the next 30 years or so what should it be? V or flat bottom jon? I suppose any boat that would be practical on small to midsize rivers probably wouldn’t be big enough to be safe on the mighty Miss.? Also, I don’t live currently live near a major river like the Mississippi or Ohio but I hope to within the next year or two if things work out & I couldn’t imagine living next to a river like that & not catfishing every chance you can.
Thanks for any advice in advance,
Matt
