Hello all, needed a bit of advice about charter fishing and tipping. Im going on a 1/2 day charter out of Tampa and well, I have not been fishing in 15 years and was told that the tipping is the norm for the first mate. What percent range % do you tip a 1st mate on a chartered fishing trip and what does a first mate do? What does a first mate do, and how much do you tip?
Thanks
Max

It’s looking like it’s going to be a go because my work gave me some time off after 2 years of working straight. Anyway, me a some of my friends want to go on a Canadian fly fishing trip this summer. Can anyone recommend a good place. Which is better fly in or drive in? Thought I’d ask here and see that there are some nice helpful anglers. Also, if you have any information/guides etc. What gear would you recommend and we want to go fly fishing so any fly advice would be helpful. Thanks- Jeff

My date invited me to go ocean fishing? This will be my third date in a month and it was his turn to pick a place so, he invited me to go Ocean Fishing! I have done a lot of fishing in my life, but never been “ocean” fishing before, so I have no idea what to expect or wear when you go ocean fishing? I know it sounds like a somewhat dumb blond’e question, but should I worry about getting seasick? Also, I have to bring the food too! Suggestions?
Many thanks for any advice.- Eileen

I am going on my first full 3 day fishing trip for with my two boys and was wondering how much to tip the deckhands, cook, etc. I’ve only gone on 1/2 day boats before and don’t know the protocol. If anyone wants to share some advice I am all ears.

Just got news from my job I’ll have 2 weeks off in January and want to head to South Florida to do some fishing. The Florida F&G web site said they allow fishing off of the beach and piers. However, it is winter so I was wondering if there is anything to be caught off of the shore that time of year and what baits might work best? Or just forget it and go for charter fishing instead?

I have heard that it is well known rule/law that the captain of a fishing boat/charter gets to keep any “giant” fish like Tuna, Halibut, he/she wants. It’s their boat or rules? Is this true, and why is this allowed if you are the one paying for the boat charter?

I am 21 and live in I live in Navarre, FL. I also, own 36ft fishing boat (1-6 Fishers + 3 Crew) that I am wanting to use for “small private fishing charters”. What are the permits, licenses, .etc needed? I’ve been taken out friends and family regualary and just get a kick back on gas and such? Is it profitable or just a hobby for most so they can keep fishing and stay above water on boat costs and insurance and stuff? Your in-put would be appreciated.

Peacock Bass charter fishing in the Amazon river tributaries. This blog needs more Peacock Bass videos. We all have our dream on where we want to fish in this world and what. This is mine. Once the kids are grown and gone this is what/hope I can afford to do. what’s your favorite fishing or what do you want to do or go?

Here’s a great video St. Simons Island Fishing off the Georgia coast and they’re using with Penn Reels Georgia offshore fishing at it’s best for Red Snapper, Vermilion Snapper, Beeliner Snapper. Looks like a lot of fun and a great day. My life sucks.

I’ll be going to be staying in beautiful Cancun for a week in September. I wanted to charter a private boat for the family. My son who is 11 has dreamed about Marlin fishing and want to be with him on his first bill-fish. Sadly, I’ve heard horrible things about aquaworld charters and hotel. My budget for two people is $800 I looking for a successful trip. I understand they call it “Fishing” for a reason, but sure would be nice for my boy to get his first Marlin. Recommendations?
