Your best catfish bait?
Saturday, September 18th, 2010
Your best catfish bait? I will be relocating to Eest Texas (Tyler) soon and I like to fish at night and was wondering what bait I should use or if here is a preferred bait for that area. I fish all kinds of cats and like yellow cats the best and I’ll be shore fishing and NOT trot-lining. Also, any Texas cat fishermen here want to clue me in on fishing at night?
A good Minnow trap
Wednesday, August 18th, 2010
Hello all! I thought I’d post a question regarding simple fishing gear. I am just your average fisherman and for bait, I use your run of the mill powerbaits, salmon eggs, and worms, you can buy at any local bait shop. I have been hooking up a lot of trout and largemouth bass with store bought minnows and now only want to use live bait when fishing. After searching the net I see many “minnow traps” that are just some sort of plastic bottle contraption. I posted the picture above and I was wondering if anyone here uses this trap or would suggest one or a direction to go?

Striped bass fishing with live bait.
Tuesday, July 27th, 2010
New member here. I thought I’d ask a question about using live bait for striped bass. I understand when fishing for striped bass they don’t start out in life looking to eat an artificial lure and understand they will hit what is natural. My lake in (SE) the bass are slowing down on any lures and now want to try live bait. I understand stripers are likely to hit the live bait during these colder months.BUT if you were going to use live bait now what would be your first choice? Thanks in advance!

Summer Trout Fishing tips
Thursday, June 3rd, 2010Hey all thought I’d jump in and ask for some summer trout fishing tips. I live in New Mexico, I am a trout angler, but to catch trout I have to travel a long way to find cold enough water. The lake I fish, but the trout fishing has slowed down a lot because of the heat. The catfish, bass, walleye, and crappie are biting hard and though I’m mainly focused on just catching any fish now and not just trout. From summer to early fall whats the best bait and locations for any of those fish? Thanks anything helps I just want to start catching fish again preferring trout.

Fishing bait when you’re cheap
Monday, May 10th, 2010
Fishing bait when you’re cheap and retired like me! I’m new to fishing (just retired) and it would seem much cheaper in the long run to find my own bait. Such as worms, night crawlers, crawdads and other things. Less money spent on bait = more beer! Anyway, any tips sure would be appreciated.

Fishing trout stream question
Friday, February 26th, 2010Okay, now I’ve scouted long and hard and found out where the trout are, but the question is, what is the best bait for that? Also, this stream holds only small trout so wouldn’t the fly line spinner bait be a bit too big for them?

Carolina Rig fishing howto’s
Sunday, November 15th, 2009
I have never seen or had anyone show the proper way of setting up or fish a Carolina fishing Rig. It’s been trial and error for me, well honestly just error! Is there a key to fishing the rig? Like worm fishing, do you want to “slow down” a bit, or does it depend on certain variables? Is it good for deep and shallow water fishing? Does the bait have to be something that’s at least 4 inches? Thanks!

Need the basics for ice fishing?
Thursday, October 29th, 2009You could not get more avid of a fisherman then me in the spring and summer. But when it comes to ice-fishing I’m a beginner. I don’t want to sit around all winter so I want to try my hand at ice-fishing, but I don’t know where to start. Can some one suggest books, sites, vids, techniques, ETC. I first want to know what I will be getting in to!
