This evening, Saturday I was out fishing (Florida on the Gulf) for snook and caught a nice little one and released the fish. Anyway, I was fishing under a bridge at night and it was full of Snook under the lights. Just about anything I cast in-front of them ie.,, DOA rubber shrimp, a plastic wiggle fish, frozen shrimp, they just would not hit anything. I’m getting tired of fishing all together. I can’t catch anything decent here. I don’t have a boat either and only go out when invited. Looking for tips and advice.
Any out there?- Lisa in Fl

Hello CupidFish. I am single mom and I would like to take my two early teen daughters camping. I want them to “unplug” from the world for a weekend here in Arkansas and enjoy the outdoors and possible teach them to crappie fish like my father did. It’s a still a bit warm but here is my question/problem. I am not as familiar with the camping as I use to be, and I need as much advice as you can give. Where, when the best time of year to go, what sort of things I would need to bring. I know of course the basics of a tent and sleeping bags and stuff but I don’t know what else we would really need. I know it’s the middle of summer since it is hot here but I would also like to go fishing and don’t know if we can catch anything. I know it sounds stupid, but I am really just trying to make some memorable moments for my girls.
In short, I just need some basics.Thanks- Eileen

I met someone nice and being an avid angler. He also loves to fish and I do and do you think it would be odd to ask him to go fishing on a first date? The weather is perfect for fishing and I think it would be a great first date. What do you all think?

Women fishing NOT bad luck. I just don’t get it because everytime I go fishing other fishermen stare me like I don’t belong there. I feel like I’m being judged for being a woman on the water and not for my fishing skills. Why do men not seem to appreciate a woman trying her hand at fishing? I’ve asked a few anglers and their reasoning is..women are bad luck!

I’ve just been too busy at work during the day to get out fishing so I am going head out for some night catfishing. I was thinking about fishing using a slip bobber but I will not be able to see it at night. Due to not having a lantern or anything like that and not going to hold a flashlight, I was thinking clipping a glow stick on my line. Anyone done this before? Suggestions and advice welcome..
Bobby

Thought I’d check in and update a few on my second date idea. So as you know I met a guy here on CupidFish and he took me out for a nice lunch and then a great walk. He works a lot and likes bass fishing as much as I do and so now it’s my choice for the second date. So my plan is to go fishing and make a fire and fish and watch the stars but its so damn hot! Anyway, he does work a lot and mentioned a few times he has not got out all that much to do some fishing and his free time he is spending with me;-) Anyway, my question is do you think it is too soon for a camp/fishing trip?
Thanks Eileen

Hey cupidfish I thought I’d join this dating site and give it a go. I just dumped my 45yr old boy friend of 2.5 years. A majority of the time we got along great – as long as we are doing what HE wants to do. We’d go fishing, boating, and one time even went with him duck hunting etc. These are the only outdoor activities he enjoys. I enjoy them because it’s something we are doing together. However if I suggest we try something new or an activity I like to do such as going to an outdoor festival, go bowling, see a free concert in the park, take a day trip to the beach or mountains, he is totally resistant. He’ll roll his eyes and respond,”I’ll have to get back with you.” That was his answer to most of the activities I would like to do with him. Then he will delay so long in giving me a definitive answer about my suggestion that is it either too late to go or I’m just not longer interested. The last few times he had me wait for an answer I took a girlfriend instead. I thought this would make him feel left out or guilty for stringing me along, but he still didn’t care! He went fishing or hung out with his buddies. He doesn’t see why I’m making a big deal about it. But it infuriates me!
So now after I dumped him he wants to get back together and make amends. I am finished and truly am an (all things) outdoors type of gal, but sadly, most men over 40 turn to all talk and no action and just want to do the things they want or sit and watch sports and feed their pie hole. I am in my mid forties and understand why women my age or older turn to cougars because you older me lose your stamina. VENT off-
Jackie

Strange things seen when fishing or on the water? I have seen many deer swimming across a open lake to get to a small island. Another is an Indian (Mexico) family fishing a remote lake from a ponga boat with no rod, hand-lining some mono and a spinnerbait trying to catch enough to feed the family. The Indian family was living in a makeshift tent on the shore and had a freshly killed deer hanging in a nearby tree. Truly odd to see this in the 21st century. It was like I had gone through a time warp and ended up hundreds of years ago.
On a trip to Texas with a friend, we came around a bend backing into a small cove and there were four huge wild hogs taking a swim. We all laughed but we continued fishing the cove leaving with a big grin.
How about you telling your strange stories here.

Fluorocarbon leader attachment question? If I want to attach a fluorocarbon leader to the end of a braided fishing line for the invisibility when fishing in clear waters would I use a swivel or just tie a double uni? My goal is when Texas Rigging or some other slow moving tactic. Also I am talking about when I am using a bobber presentation for panfishing.
What do you think? Richard.

River fishing the deep end. hello anglers I was wondering how do you tell where the water is deepest when it comes to river fishing? I know that when you fish in rivers, its best to fish where the water is deepest. If you can please tell me how you can tell where to cast my line would be great. Oh yes one more thing, what do anglers mean by when they say….bounce the worm off the bottom????
Thanks! =D Jason
