fly fishing question for the new guy

Saturday, May 15th, 2010
Hey all! This is going to be my second season fly fishing so I am sort/kinda of new to fly fishing. I went fishing for trout today in my local river, pretty good current, but I did not even have a bite. I know they are in there because I saw some flashing every now and then. So, I threw a popper, and my other best fly that i cant remember the name of, so if there are any suggestions i would love any advice anyone could give thank you! – AR-Trout-Dude.

Accidentally hooking a trout

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010
At times when I am fly fishing I accidentally hook a trout in the tail or side. What is the best thing to prevent this from happening in the future? It’s like a fluke because I’ve always had this problem fishing  streamers. I’ve done some research online and apparently it’s called a ‘bump’ a trout does to stun the ‘fish’ for a couple seconds so they can catch it (in their mouths) easier and I always mistake it for a hit on the fly. So my question, is it better to leave the fly in or cut the line?
Thank you in Advance for any tips, – Terry in Oregon

Is this realistic a dating scenario

Monday, March 15th, 2010

Hey CupidFish ! Is this a realistic a dating scenario? I have two friends male and female that were college roommates and still great friends to this day and live together. Both are very active in outdoor sports that they do together (camping, Fly fishing, hiking etc). Both have an active dating life, but share a house and have separate rooms and lounge around in their underwear? I’ve visited my friend and seen the young women  laying on the living room floor in a tshirt and panties watching tv or playing xbox.  After work they’ll cook dinner together and hangout and they are fine with it and both even share their dating experiences with each other.. They are truly best friends, and can’t understand how this works? Something must be going on..?

Is fly fishing really that hard?

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Is fly fishing really that hard? My brother and I would like to try it next time we go to Utah. We’d get an experienced guide, of course, but, would we spend the entire day learning as opposed to catching fish? Are the fundamentals easy to learn, or really that hard?

A good fly fishing gift?

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010
.
It’s my bosses birthday and apparently he’s really really into fly fishing and making his own stuff for it – Can anyone suggest a present that I could get him. I have my own places and buy my gear local and some places online, but I want to shock him with a great thoughtful original idea? Something to impress him because I have a raise review coming up. ;-)

Non Fly method for trout fishing

Monday, December 14th, 2009
Some of my none Fly Fishing friends want me to take them out fishing, and they dont have enough time to learn. Do you think they will be able to attract trout with a zebco? Is it kind of like being a skier hanging out with snowboarders?
