Shallow creek bass fishing advice needed
Friday, September 17th, 2010Shallow creek bass fishing advice needed. I found a great creek with lot’s of shade trees and unfortunately, a lot of bait-fish ie., minnows. Any suggestions or advice on alternative baits to catch these largemouth bass? The creek is clear and I have seen some 4lber bass in there so I’d like to know if there is an easier method because they are NOT biting live bait.

A good Minnow trap
Wednesday, August 18th, 2010
Hello all! I thought I’d post a question regarding simple fishing gear. I am just your average fisherman and for bait, I use your run of the mill powerbaits, salmon eggs, and worms, you can buy at any local bait shop. I have been hooking up a lot of trout and largemouth bass with store bought minnows and now only want to use live bait when fishing. After searching the net I see many “minnow traps” that are just some sort of plastic bottle contraption. I posted the picture above and I was wondering if anyone here uses this trap or would suggest one or a direction to go?

Saltwater Flats Fishing bait
Monday, July 5th, 2010
Hello all at cupidfish. Hope you all had a safe and happy 4,th of July. Alright I had quick question, planning on going fishing all this week. Looking at the weather-tides, I think I’ll give the flats a try. I normally use live shrimp with no weight letting the wind and current take me from one end to the other and it seems to be hit or miss for me. Is this normal for flats fishing? Any tips will help. Live bait, dead, or lures. thanks
When to change lures
Friday, July 2nd, 2010
When to change lures when the first lure is not working? Lets say, I’m fishing, with no-one else around to ask what’s working. I am using a white spinner but nothing is happening after a good 30-40 casts. So how long is long enough before trying another lure like a Rattle-Trap or rubber worm, instead? I’ve always just used live bait and done very little lure fishing, but now I am interested in trying it, now. I’m fishing for bass but wonder if I have much chance for success without more experience and knowledge of how to **really** use them the best way to attract the fish?Jake
Oregon fishing for LargeMouth Bass?
Friday, May 14th, 2010
Hi, Ive been Bass fishing before down in South many times and I am somewhat good at it. But Oregon fishing for LargeMouth Bass? I just moved close to the Columbia river and there is a very small population of largemouths in the Columbia and I have never caught one, although I have tried numerous times. Can any of you experienced Oregon bass anglers give me some tips/pointers on how to catch some and in Oregon it is illegal to use live bait and goldfish.
Thanks much, and I appreciate any response.
Yes Florida carp fishing?
Saturday, March 6th, 2010
I am heading out in the morning and we’ll be flying to Sarasota Florida. There is a very large pond behind where we’ll be staying. The last time I was there I’ve seen a lot of carp in the shallows , They look to be about 2-3 pounders. I’m going to try my luck at catching some of these carp but I’m from North Carolina and I’m not sure that the carp fishing bait used around here will be as effective down south so could somebody please recommend the best live bait that I’m most likely to hook them on?
I’d Appreciate it much,
Carl
My Catfishing Curse
Monday, November 2nd, 2009I fish in a bay on the gulf coast of Mississippi. I usually fish off a docks with live bait. The docks I go to are locateded on mud flats. I have seen other people catch huge redfish, but all I catch is catfish. I’ve changed locations, bait, setups, ETC and did not catch one Redfish all year. I actually copy other anglers techniques and what they use. It’s frustrating. Advice?

Your best way to hook live bait?
Wednesday, October 21st, 2009I always fish lakes and have been using shad and minnows on my hooks as bait. In your opinion, what’s the best way to hook a shad or minnow? I was taught to stick the whole fish in the hook from mouth to tail with the hook still being covered. This kills the fish fast and I don’t want that. How have most of you hooked live bait and what do you think works best? I’ve been using # 2 and 5 hooks, with a leader and weight on the end. I believe the hooks might be too big(?) but in the end I’m just a beginner and don’t really know. please advise.Erick
Florida freshwater winter dock fishing
Monday, October 12th, 2009Yes, another new Floridian asking a fishing question and yes, new to CupidFish. I just moved right on lake poinsett in cocoa Florida and want to try my luck at freshwater fishing off my dock. Bait suggestions for a newbie and I am just looking to do some catch and release fishing and it does not really matter the type of fish. I’ve caught one gar by net and a few other things but getting no bites with a pole. I’ve been using lures, but would worms work better? Any live bait suggestions, or any lure kind? or both?

My Questions for PRO Snook fishing?
Tuesday, October 6th, 2009I am ready and excited to do a bit of Snook fishing and wanted to ask a few questions.
Question one: Would you use, live bait or artificial? If artificial, which should I pick: MirroLure, Berkeley Gulp, spoons, plugs, Shrimp, etc.
Question two: I don’t think I have a regular leader, just wire. If I use wire will it make the outcome of catching a Snook greater, lease or the same?
Question Three: When is the best time to get after them snook?
Thank you in advance and this blog is much more friendly then the other “clickish” ones. Nice folks here.
Regards,
Donnie
