Fishing South Florida canals in a small boat.

Monday, October 5th, 2009
I  am seriously thinking about getting a 10.2 boat (saw this in the paper today) with a small outboard or trolling motor with 2 swivel seats and an aerated livewell.  What do you think about my idea and would it be a good rig for catch some bass tarpon in the canals? Also, it would be my first boat and want to start close to shore as I gain knowledge for possibly buying a larger boat later for deep sea or ocean fishing. Whatcha you’ll think?

A freshwater saltwater boat

Thursday, September 24th, 2009
Well the time has come (came into some funds $25k) and I am looking to purchase a used boat, but am trying to decide what style that would best suit my needs. An  open bow or center console. The boat will primarily be used for saltwater fishing in the South west, but also I would like something that I can use for water skiing in local lakes. Also,  boat will need to be towed a lot. A few things I am looking for in a boat are:

Good Stability in the ocean (not deep sea, but far enough out where i can do some fishing)
Some what easy to launch/recover from different ramps
If possible (yes, I know it’s a boat) low mantience costs.
And finally an outboard motor.

Any help tips, tricks, suggestions, ideas will be appreciated.

Tom
