Morning all! I am very interesting in building a saltwater fishing rod. This will be my first attempt and looking for instructions on fishing rod building for saltwater fishing. I am going for twenty to one hundred pound test and will use the rod/rods for both spinning and conventional reels.
Thanks, Erick

Hello all at cupidfish. Hope you all had a safe and happy 4,th of July. Alright I had quick question, planning on going fishing all this week. Looking at the weather-tides, I think I’ll give the flats a try. I normally use live shrimp with no weight letting the wind and current take me from one end to the other and it seems to be hit or miss for me. Is this normal for flats fishing? Any tips will help. Live bait, dead, or lures. thanks

Hey all thought I’d post here and ask a question about getting my boy his first (good one) tackle box. Price isn’t a big concern but it would be nice to have the following:
Separate slots for plugs, lures, hooks, etc.
Waterproof (difficult to find)
Corrosion resistance (used for saltwater fishing in the gulf)
Preferably have individual boxes so he doesn’t have to lug the whole thing around if he is going to the front of the boat.
Envelope/bags for soft-bait
Yet compact enough to haul around.
Any suggestions? He’s not a guide but acts like one,
Thanks in advance for your help!!
Karen

Is there a reasonably priced saltwater fishing boat? Hello cupidfish boat owners I am trying to find a good saltwater fishing boat like a Boston Whaler, but possibly cheaper? I am looking for something with a center console boat that is a good fishing boat to fit at least 4-6 people and is 19-27 feet long and is in the price range of $10,000-$15,000 dollars. I am dreaming or do you think it’s possible to fins something reasonably new and in good shape? I just can’t afford a Boston Whaler and know that there are the best boat for this but as mentioned, they are way out of my price range.

A long time bass angler going to Florida and want to do some shore fishing and want to pick up a good saltwater fishing rod/reel combo under $50.00 with 15-25lbs line test? I’ll be fishing off piers/shore outside of Tampa Florida. Its my first time saltwater fishing, so if you have any bait and gear advice it sure would help.

Soon I am heading out and going for the Red Drum and Spanish Mackerel and I would like some suggestions on artificial lures that would work well for the Red Drum. I was thinking, is that I am just going to throw out one line close to bottom that has two hooks and a weight, one hook being 6 inches up, and the other another 3-4 Inches, and then have them baited with one hook being a live or cut shrimp, and the other hook either a crab or small croaker. But for the artificial bait, I was thinking that I would just throw out and set up the bottom pole, and then pretty much just use this pole with the artificial bait to cast out and try to get lucky and pass the time. Also, if you have any tips for any of the three fish Im mainly going for (Red Drum, Mackerel, and Flounder) please feel free to include them and any bait suggestions

.Also, Red Drum, I can probably fish piers and jetties for a few days. I am going to be stuck at the beach for a few other days, and was wondering if you would suggest fishing from the surf or the pier fishing for the Drum? Or which would provide more success? Also, for the Cut bait pole, about how far do I need to throw it out into the surf fish?
Thanks, and sorry if this is scattered, but Ive got to head off
Jake

Hey all! Thought I’d join and jump right in on a fishing saltwater question. I am more of a hunter, but from time to time I like to try the water and in the mood to fish and stock the freezer. I from South Texas (Corpus Christi) and going to give saltwater fishing a go and I’ve heard that dead shrimp or a cut bait is the best bait for a beginner to fish. A co-worker of mine gave me some DOA Shrimp Lures a while back and now I want to try them for fun along with my usual bait. I never have used any type of lures, just have seen people use them. So I have a few beginner questions. One: Do I need a particular leader? How do I go about with the getting them on my line? Two: How about weights, Ive noticed there is a small one inside the lure my usually 6-8oz weights are to heavy right? I did find some 3/8oz size 7 sinkers in my dads old tackle, are they any use? Three: Any tips on casting and reeling?I have read using lures is difficult should I even bother trying?- Thanks in Advance Don

So here we go, freshwater or saltwater fishing debate. What do you prefer of is freshwater fishing better then saltwater fishing? It seems like most people here like the freshwater fishing and bass fishing, but I personally like the saltwater fishing because you can catch a much larger variety of different kinds of fish to any size. Although, I do love redfish, black drum, flounder, specs, snapper, and jacks. I have never been a big bass fishing fan and to me I find it more exciting/challenging catching giant fish. What do you prefer and why?

Hey Florida Anglers. I live close to Tampa and want to buy some fishing supplies (Christmas came early) and I went to the bass Pro shop in Orlando, and it really did not have what I was looking for. Do you think the Fort lauderdale Bass pro might be any different? Or please tell me which one of the Bass Pro shop is best in Florida for Saltwater fishing, driving distance is not a problem. Thank you for your consideration. Jerry
