My first shore/surf rod reel?

Monday, May 24th, 2010
Hey all, another new member here and thought i’d also ask a question. I live on the south shore of Long Island and always go to the beach and I like to fish as-well, just have never gone shore/beach fishing. I already have an ideas for a rod 10/12 foot. Here’s the thing, I have heard mixed reviews on which are better for surf/casting. Either conventional reel or spinning reel. If I were to go with the spinning I would probably get the Black and gold Daiwa. I don’t really know my conventional. I am no newbie to fishing in general but to Surf/shore fishing I am and will be fishing for: Stripers, bluefish, weak fish, fluke, flounder, sea robins =\ a bunch more too. This will be my first shore/surf rod reel? Thanks-Anthony

Fishing for Blues and cooking suggestions.

Has anybody ever eaten Bluefish? How about Striped Bass? I am going fishing as usual this fall, but I usually try and go for Fluke, or Flounder because they taste great. I was wondering if Blues, or Stripers are good to eat? I understand all fish taste okay friend, but need an honest opinion. Bottom fish seam to be my favorite. Also, how do you suggest cooking them?
