Summer Trout Fishing tips
Thursday, June 3rd, 2010Hey all thought I’d jump in and ask for some summer trout fishing tips. I live in New Mexico, I am a trout angler, but to catch trout I have to travel a long way to find cold enough water. The lake I fish, but the trout fishing has slowed down a lot because of the heat. The catfish, bass, walleye, and crappie are biting hard and though I’m mainly focused on just catching any fish now and not just trout. From summer to early fall whats the best bait and locations for any of those fish? Thanks anything helps I just want to start catching fish again preferring trout.

P.S. I am not fly fishing, but bait casting
The easiest method for salmon and trout
Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010The easiest method for salmon and trout and possibly walleye? I am going the Northern most part of Michigan and I’m packing in fishing tackle and we are kind of depending on fish for our 8 day hike. I am an experienced angler and I just want some pointers on inland lake fish. There will be bass, perch, walleye, salmon, trout, catfish and awful carp. What would be the easiest method to fish for walleye and salmon/trout? I want, and I am not sure the best way to go about it. Any info would be freaking sweet. thanks Dave
Bass fisherman turns to trout fishing
Friday, May 21st, 2010Hello fellow anglers and single people! I will always enjoy the largmouth bass fishing, but I am starting to enjoy trout fishing here in the Central Texas lakes. Being a beginner trout angle, but a skilled Bass angler I’ll be going to the lake with a spin rod/reel. The trout that live in the lakes are not that fast moving, but there is also a lot of small fish and bluegill, has open areas and shaded areas, shallow, and deep, no obstructions except maybe a fallen tree.
Advice needed: Bait, Tackle, & Lure, Location of Trout Hiding, Time Of Day Best and Worst. Best Type of Weather: Cloudy, Partly Cloudy, Windy, Rainy, Sunny, Before Storm, After Storm, Humid, Dry etc. With the wind or against the wind when casting!
If you can help-Thanks a million!! Steve in Tyler TX
fly fishing question for the new guy
Saturday, May 15th, 2010
Hey all! This is going to be my second season fly fishing so I am sort/kinda of new to fly fishing. I went fishing for trout today in my local river, pretty good current, but I did not even have a bite. I know they are in there because I saw some flashing every now and then. So, I threw a popper, and my other best fly that i cant remember the name of, so if there are any suggestions i would love any advice anyone could give thank you! – AR-Trout-Dude.

Accidentally hooking a trout
Tuesday, May 4th, 2010At times when I am fly fishing I accidentally hook a trout in the tail or side. What is the best thing to prevent this from happening in the future? It’s like a fluke because I’ve always had this problem fishing streamers. I’ve done some research online and apparently it’s called a ‘bump’ a trout does to stun the ‘fish’ for a couple seconds so they can catch it (in their mouths) easier and I always mistake it for a hit on the fly. So my question, is it better to leave the fly in or cut the line?
Thank you in Advance for any tips, – Terry in Oregon

Dry flies Trout fishing
Wednesday, April 21st, 2010Hey all I am a NEW avid Fly fisherman that is now addicted. Anyway, I and have fished lakes for Bluegill and Bass and some rivers for Trout. Okay so what I do know is The Department of Conservation has released Rainbow Trout in 6 lakes close to my house and three of the lakes are for Fly Fishing only. Very COOL! So how to you go about fishing lakes for Trout? Can I use dry flies like I do in rivers? How do you fish a dry fly in still water? Should I go with a streamer or not use a dry fly? Float a nymph or glow ball under a strike indicator?– …or what do you suggest? Ozzy in PA
Trout fishing rod/reel question?
Saturday, April 17th, 2010
Hey all, I just got a St. Croix triumph 6′ medium action rod paired with a Shimano Sedona 1000 fd reel. I will be using this setup mainly for trout, but will probably be using it for some small smallmouths. Do you think this will be to big for trout? Should I switch to an ultra-light or light action?- Dave
New guide how much to charge?
Saturday, March 27th, 2010New guide how much to charge? I recently bought a fishing boat and got my guide license. I have a 16 foot aluminum boat with a 28 HP outboard. It’s nothing fancy but it’s comfortable for me and three sports and well equipped with downriggers and a fish finder. Mostly I will be trolling for landlocked salmon and trout on freshwater lakes. What’s a fair rate for a guide to charge for 4 hours of trolling? Suggestions?
