Largemouth Bass fly fishing bait

Saturday, July 3rd, 2010
fly fishing large bassHey all, I have to work on the 4th but I have the rest of the week off and going camping and I am going to do some fly fish fishing and for (first time)  largemouth bass. What is the best bait/fly to catch them with? I don’t think it could be much harder then lets say then channel catfish? I haven’t fished for a couple of years, but the last time I did was in the fly fishing and I caught a nice trout. If I could handle that I am thinking why not go fly fishing for largmouth bass?
Thanks!

How far to let your line sink?

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010
Thought I’d join and ask a simple question when fishing for largemouth bass, trout, catfish. How many feet do you let the fishing hook go down in the water? If the waters about 15 feet deep and what colors are fish attracted to how to lure them in by the hook? Is it possible catch fish by letting the line just float at the top? Yes, a newbie fishing  question ;-)

Thanks, -Jeff

Summer Trout Fishing tips

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010
Hey all thought I’d jump in and ask for some summer trout fishing tips. I live in New Mexico, I am a trout angler, but to catch trout I have to travel a long way to find cold enough water. The lake I fish, but the trout fishing has slowed down a lot because of the heat. The catfish, bass, walleye, and crappie are biting hard and though I’m mainly focused on just catching any fish now and not just trout. From summer to early fall whats the best bait and locations for any of those fish? Thanks anything helps I just want to start catching fish again preferring trout.
Martin
P.S. I am not fly fishing, but bait casting

Garage sale fishing

garage sale fishing During the Spring and early summer I get out on the water as much as I can, but another form of fishing I enjoy is garage sale fishing. I do this on the  weekends and I find great tackle and gear (lot’s of junk too) for almost nothing. Just yesterday, I found two nice fishing rods for a dollar apiece, 7 fishing reels for under 10  dollars, and a bunch of lures, and supplies for a dollar. My wife said I didn’t need any more fishing stuff, but some of it is better than some of my gear now (which I plan on replacing), and you can never have too many lures! I already fixed the 2 poles with the 2 best reels, and have another nice trout pole, and another nice catfish pole. Does anyone else do this on this forum? Post on what you found?

Regards,

Jerry

fly fishing question for the new guy

Saturday, May 15th, 2010
Hey all! This is going to be my second season fly fishing so I am sort/kinda of new to fly fishing. I went fishing for trout today in my local river, pretty good current, but I did not even have a bite. I know they are in there because I saw some flashing every now and then. So, I threw a popper, and my other best fly that i cant remember the name of, so if there are any suggestions i would love any advice anyone could give thank you! – AR-Trout-Dude.

Saltwater angler going freshwater

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010
Hello all, thought i’d join and then ask a question about freshwater fishing. I’ve been a  saltwater angler for 25 years and want to start freshwater fishing. My question is instead of going out and buying new gear will surf fishing rods, reels, and lures work for freshwater fishing? If not, what kind of equipment will I need to get for perch, walleye, trout, bass, crappie, catfish, etc.  – Thanks Al in Georgia.

Fishing rods and reels suggestions

Friday, April 16th, 2010
Afternoon, I need some suggestions on good fishing rods and reels for small to medium game freshwater trout, catfish, bass, striper, etc. I have been using my brothers rod & reel the last few times I have gone and would like to have my own. Starting to get that “you need your own” gear look! My budget is around $200. Any suggestions on brand/model? Thanks much, Dell

Is Crappie fishing really that good?

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010
Is crappie fishing really that good?  Sorry, I mean the actual taste of the fish?  I fish a lot for Bass and it’s delicious, but not a fan of fishy tasting like trout. However Salmon – fresh wild – is excellent. So, we are going to try fishing this weekend for Crappie, and we are wondering what fish would be comparative to the flavor of Crappie? I’ve heard great things about how truly delicious the fillets are cooked, but am I building it to much comparing to salmon etc?
Thanks;-)
Dina
